Seeing no path to playing time, Penn State sophomore quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to 24-7 Sports. He was battling for the third-string slot with Ta’Quan Roberson. Johnson was listed at #4 on the Spring depth chart behind starter Sean Clifford, backup Will Levis, and Roberson.
Former Alabama quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa says he is transferring to Maryland to play for his former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator, Mike Locksley. Taulia is the younger brother of Tua Tagovailoa, the former ‘Bama quarterback chosen in the first round by Miami in this year’s NFL draft.
Former Penn State and NFL quarterback Christian Hackenberg says he is giving up his fading plans to play pro football again and is focusing on training for a try at baseball. Hackenberg is a right-handed pitcher who says he’s only 25 and “has a lot left in the tank.” He last played baseball in high school at the Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, where he was primarily a relief pitcher.
