State police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a black Dodge Journey that was involved in a vehicle pursuit last night in White Township and Indiana Borough.
At about 9:25 PM, a state police unit on a speed patrol observed the northbound vehicle going 66 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone on Wayne Avenue. The trooper gave chase when the driver failed to stop for the lights and siren. Police tried unsuccessfully to execute a PIT maneuver to stop the car, which turned off Oakland Avenue and into the Regency Plaza. But it hit a curb and became disabled in the parking lot. The male driver and an adult male passenger then fled on foot. The passenger was apprehended after he ran down a grassy hillside but the driver ran across the parking lot and was picked up by an unknown person in a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a Honda Accord. It fled onto North Avenue.
Inside the wrecked vehicle police found two adult women and a juvenile male, all of whom were taken into custody and released pending investigation. They also found a loaded .223 caliber rifle.
The missing driver is described as a Black male who was wearing a white t-shirt and torn blue jeans. Anyone with information is urged to call Trooper Ryan Williams at 357-1960.
