Indiana Borough Police are once again investigating a case of criminal mischief where someone posted a sign from a recognized hate group on the front door to a business.
Police say that a PatriotFront “Reclaim America” sign was found stuck to a business door in the 600 block of Nixon Avenue at 2:25 AM on June 8th. Police say only the one sign was posted in connection with the incident. Police are classifying this as a hate crime.
Borough police back in July of 2019 investigated a similar incident where signs and stickers from the Patriot Front group were posted all over town.
Patriot Front was called by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a white nationalist hate group that formed in the aftermath of the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.
Indiana Borough Police say they are actively investigating all incidents of hate. In their statement, Police say that Indiana Borough has been recognized as a welcoming community and the police are committed to ensuring the peace, safety and comfort of all its citizens.
