The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania says it is lagging behind last year’s donations by close to $79,000, and is looking forward to big week before Christmas.
Fifty to fifty-five percent of a campaign’s total is typically raised in the final two weeks before Christmas Day, but this year’s campaign is only at 42 percent of the overall goal of $2,730,000, so there is some ground to cover.
The Salvation Army says there are seven locations that are at less than thirty percent of goal, and one of them is Punxsutawney. The others are Bradford, Franklin, Greenville, New Castle, and Warren. They do not list totals for the other areas, including Indiana.
The red kettles are out in front of several area retailers, but if you can get to one, you can donate online at salvationarmy.org or redkettlereason.org.
