UPDATE: Charles Randolph was sentenced to 27 months to five years in state prison on an aggravated assault charge, and 16 months to five years for fleeing or eluding police. The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
Vernon Hazlett III was sentenced to one year probation and must pay a $300 fine along with court costs.
Matthew Boxler was sentenced to six months to two years in county jail and must serve an additional two years probation after his release.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
Jury selection is scheduled today for the trial of 23-year-old Caleb Collier of Shelocta, who is facing charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and harassment for an incident July 28th in Indiana Borough. Police say Collier was one of the people involved in a fight they’d been called to break up. He became unruly as police were taking him into custody.
Also in county court today, there is a plea court appearance scheduled for 27-year-old Vernon Hazlett III of Indiana, who has had several cases make their way through the courts this year. This is an insurance fraud case, with additional charges of institutional vandalism and criminal mischief.
Sentencing is scheduled in two cases for 26-year-old Matthew Boxler of Saltsburg. He pleaded guilty to criminal trespass for a June burglary and to possession of drug paraphernalia in April. In that drug case, he was caught under the influence in a public restroom in Canal Park in Saltsburg with 32 stamp bags of heroin, several of them empty.
59-year-old Charles Randolph of Indiana will be sentenced for guilty pleas to aggravated assault, fleeing or eluding police, and reckless driving for leading police on a chase from Indiana Borough into White Township on Saint Patrick’s Day. Police said Randolph ran a stop sign, then three times tried to hit a pursuing police cruiser. The chase ended when Randolph’s pickup hit the concrete base of a sign along Oakland Avenue. He was critically injured in the crash but is recovered now.
47-year-old Michael Shawn Young of New Florence will be sentenced for possession with intent to deliver in a methamphetamine lab case.
