U.S. Attorney Scott Brady announced that Indiana County has received $58,008 in Department of Justice grants to help respond to public safety challenges related to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The grant was available to through the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program that was authorized under recent stimulus legislation signed off by President Donald Trump. In addition, the state Department on Crime and Delinquency was awarded over $17 million in grants that can be distributed to eligible government agencies in the state.
In a statement, County Commissioners Chairman Michael Keith said the funding will be used to purchase personal protective equipment and other items needed to fight Covid-19. He added the funding will essentially “replenish these un-budgeted expenses so the County can continue to operate effectively and serve the needs of the community.”
