HERSHEY – Kennedy Catholic dominated the second and third quarters and gradually pulled away from the Homer-Center Wildcats in a 65-45 victory for the Golden Eagles in the PIAA 2A girls’ basketball championship game Thursday afternoon at the Giant Center. Kennedy Catholic outscored Homer-Center, 13-9 and 18-6, in the second and third frames, respectively.

Layke Fields proved to be a lot to handle inside for Kennedy Catholic. She led the Golden Eagles with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Bella Magestro scored 15 points and Monique Vincent added 13 for Kennedy Catholic. The Golden Eagles scored 38 of their points in the paint.
For the District 6 championship Wildcats, who finished a stellar season at 24-10, Macy Sardone scored a game-high 27 points, hitting 5 of 8 shots from 3-point territory, and also led Homer-Center with five rebounds, a category dominated by Kennedy Catholic at 26-17. The Golden Eagles also shot 22 of 39 (56 percent) from the floor to Homer-Center’s 14 of 39 (36 percent).
The Wildcats committed 13 turnovers and the Golden Eagles took advantage, scoring 23 points off the giveaways.
