With Saint Vincent College out as the training camp site and with their practice facility unable to handle the larger training camp roster, the Steelers announced yesterday that the camp will be held at Heinz Field, which has four locker rooms. The team would have had to bring in temporary lockers to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex to accommodate the expanded roster of players.
The NFL has issued protocols to all 32 teams establishing the parameters for the full reopening of their facilities. The procedures include screening, testing and physical distancing, with all lockers being at least six feet apart and workouts limited to small groups of no more than 15 players – as well as facility cleaning and disinfecting. However, the players’ union issued a statement to all players saying the protocols were sent without their approval.
