The current president of the Indiana School Board has announced his intent to run for a fifth term on the board.
Walter Schroth is cross filing on Democratic and Republican Ballots for Indiana School Board. Schroth said that the motivation to make a difference for the students in the district in 2005 was the same reason why he wants to run again in 2023. During his time as school board president, Schroth has overseen the most turbulent times in the district with the Covid-19 pandemic, the aftermath from that and the fire at the Eisenhower Elementary School. Also during his tenure, the district has not increased taxes since 2017.
Schroth also said that he wants to make sure that students are ready for their post-secondary education lives and careers and make sure that they are able to thrive in the world, and educate them at a cost the district residents can afford.
The primary election will be held on May 16th.
