Cherry Tree Borough police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened yesterday afternoon on Route 553 in Pine Township. Police say Ivy Morrow of Indiana lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered highway, sending her into a spin and into the opposite lane, where she collided with a tractor trailer driven by David Novella of Northern Cambria. Morrow’s vehicle was hit in the rear, sending her spinning back into her lane of travel. She was injured and was taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Novella escaped injury.
Police are also looking into a hit-and-run that happened about two hours later on Route 403 at Route 422, also in Pine Township. A vehicle hit a fire hydrant, causing it to spew water onto Route 403. PennDOT was called to spread anti-skid material and salt to keep the water from freezing.
