Edward J. Salerno age 88 of Indiana, died Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
He was born in 1932 in Sagamore to Edward G. and Anna Morazza Salerno.
He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War, stationed in Germany from 1953 to 1956.
Ed was a member of the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher, Father McNelis Council #1481 Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, VFW Post #1989, and past member of the Allied Club and the BPOE Lodge #931.
He was employed by Fisher Scientific Co. Contempra Furniture Division for 35 years.
He was an avid football and baseball fan, played tennis, and especially loved golfing with his grandson Jonathan. He also enjoyed wine making, socializing and traveling particularly to Florida, California and Hawaii.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Mary Alice Misurda Salerno, Indiana; four children – Julie Rado and husband Len, Homer City; Edward “Chip” Salerno and wife Chrissie, Clermont, Fl; Matt Salerno and wife Kim, Davenport, FL; Dr. Ava Marie Conlin and husband Col Christopher C. Conlin USMC (Ret), Sacramento, CA; and seven grandchildren who were the light of his life – Adrienne Salerno, Jerome Salerno, Luke Salerno, Grace Conlin, MIDN USN, Rose Conlin, (CDT USA), and May Conlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Jonathan Edward Rado, and his sisters Gloria Kimball and Helen Roebuck.
Friends are invited to celebrate Ed’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Federline as the celebrant. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery. Face masks are required.
