Until Monday night, the Indiana Lil Indians girls basketball team was the only program to advance to a PIAA State Championship game and they did it twice. Unfortunately they lost both games, the first in 1983, the second in 2010.
The Homer-Center Wildcats and River Valley Panthers became the 3rd and 4th teams to advance to the PIAA State Championships and they did it on the same night. Homer-Center overwhelmed Montrose 47-13 at Central Mountain High School, while the River Valley Panthers overcame a 4th quarter deficit and eliminated Our Lady of Sacred Heart’s Chargers 45-38 in a game played at Kiski High School.
Both teams will play on Thursday at the Giant Center in Hershey. Homer-Center will tip off at noon against Kennedy Catholic from Hermitage, while the River Valley Panthers will face the Dunmore Bucks at 6:00 PM. Renda Media will cover both games. You will be able to hear the Homer-Center game on WCCS AM-1160, 101.1 FM, and on wccsradio.com beginning with the pre-games at 11:00 AM. The River Valley and Dunmore game will be broadcast on Cat Country 106.3 FM and catcountry1063fm.com beginning at 5 PM. Both games will also be aired on the Trib Live High School Sports Network. Stay tuned for more information on your hometown radio stations.
