LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP junior left-hander Bella Bucy was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Bucy was outstanding during IUP’s trip to Florida for the Sprint Break Games, racking up three wins over the nomination period, dating back to last Tuesday. Bucy went 3-1 overall with a 1.91 ERA in 18.1 innings of work in the circle.
She tossed a complete game shutout against St. Thomas Aquinas on March 14, scattering nine hits without allowing an extra-base hit. Bucy tossed four innings of relief in a 4-3 win against St. Michael’s, allowing just one run for the Hawks.
The Jefferson Hills, Pa. native fanned five in 4.1 innings to finish out the Florida trip against Bloomsburg on March 17.
Bucy boasts 93 career strikeouts entering a busy week of conference play.
IUP begins divisional play this week with home doubleheaders against Slippery Rock (March 21) and Gannon (March 24).
