State police are investigating two burglaries that happened yesterday afternoon along Route 954 in Creekside. Between 3 PM and 6:30, someone forced open a side door at the home of a 62-year-old man, but it does not appear that anything was taken. In that same general time frame, a door was forced open at the home of a 29-year-old man. Police say nothing of significant value was taken.
State police have issued two reports on drivers suspected of driving under the influence of narcotics. Police say 34-year-old Metin Aslan of Indiana was pulled over for a traffic violation at about 3:20 AM on November 23rd on South 13th Street in Indiana Borough. He was taken to IRMC for a blood draw, which revealed the presence of illegal narcotics.
A Fayette County man was pulled over for a traffic violation on November 25th on Route 22 near Jessie Penrose Road in West Wheatfield Township. Police say 42-year-old Thomas Marlyn Graves of Dunbar was under the influence of narcotics and he had narcotics with him. He refused his blood draw, which automatically triggered the DUI charge.
A Homer City woman has been accused of pulling off a swipe-and-swap last Tuesday at the White Township Walmart store. Police say 32-year-old Breanna Novosel took an espresso machine from the shelf, walked to the service desk, and exchanged the machine for a gift card valued at $129.53. She is charged with theft by deception.
