Caught in the grip of a three-game losing streak at a crucial point in the season, the reeling Penguins welcome the Ottawa Senators to PPG Paints Arena tonight. The Pens are coming off a 6-0 pasting by the New York Rangers on Saturday.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Pens have to forget Saturday night.
Sullivan says the Penguins players have played a lot of championship hockey, and they know what it takes to win in the NHL.
The Penguins will need to shore up the blue line. They played Saturday night without injured defensemen Jeff Petry, Jan Rutta, and Dmitry Kulikov, and Marcus Pettersson left the ice during the game with an unspecified injury. They also have to work around the bruised psyche of goaltender Tristan Jarry, who was pulled from the game Saturday, the fourth time he has been removed in his last ten starts.
The Pens have fallen behind the New York Islanders by two points in the Eastern Conference Wild Card standings. They hold the second Wild Card by just a point over the Florida Panthers.
Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7 PM. It airs on 92.5 FM U92 beginning at 6.
