A student-led Black Lives Matter march and rally was held today in Downtown Indiana.
Close to 200 people of all ages attended the rally that was held Wednesday afternoon in the heart of Downtown Indiana as protesters marched from the intersection of 4th and Philadelphia Street to IRMC Park and then over to the Indiana County Courthouse. One of the organizers, 13-year-old Becca Neal, who is going into 8th grade, talked about the message they wanted to spread.
The other organizer, Amara Moore, who is going into 9th grade at Indiana Senior High School, said that they were able to organize the rally in the span of two days, and they received a lot of help from Indiana Borough Police.
The rally was inspired by similar rallies in Greensburg and Latrobe in protest of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and similar injustices.
