As the self-response period for the 2020 Census continues, Indiana County remains under the state and national averages for returning completed census forms.
As of May 29th, Indiana County’s self-response rate is 58.7 percent, which is an increase of a tenth of a percentage point over the last four days. The national self-response rate is now at 60.4 percent, an increase of three-tenths of a percentage point, and Pennsylvania’s rate is at 63.5 percent, an increase of four-tenths of a percentage point.
In the county, Glen Campbell Borough saw the biggest increase in the self-response rate percentage, as their rate went up eight-tenths of a percentage points, while Canoe and Center Townships went up by five-tenths of a percentage point.
Indiana Borough’s self-response rate is at 47.5 percent, which went unchanged between May 25th and 29th. White Township saw an increase in two tenths of a percentage point to 63.4% Homer City borough also went up by two-tenths of a percentage point to a new total of 69.2 percent and Center Township’s rate went up three-tenths of a percentage point to 57.5 percent. Blairsville borough’s self-response rate is 61.9%, an increase of three-tenths of a percentage point.
Starting August 11th, Census takers will go across the county to collect data from those who have not self-responded. The response period ends October 31st.
