After a delay of over a month, the PA Primary Election will be held today.
The election was originally scheduled for April 28th, but it was delayed to today due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Polls are open until 8 PM tonight.
One race is being contested and will impact the 66th State House district. Jefferson County Commissioner John “Jack” Matson is running against Punxsutawney businessman and former Punxsutawney Borough Council member Brian Smith. They are running for the Republican nomination for the seat that is being vacated by Cris Dush. He is running for PA senate.
Voters are reminded that for many of the precincts, polling places may have changed, and people are encouraged to check a list of polling places at www.indianacountypa.gov to find out if your polling place has changed.
Also, as previously reported, there will be some social distancing guidelines in effect at each polling place. Voters are reminded that they must wear masks while inside the polling place. Each person will also be given a pen to use to sign in and cast your vote, but voters are being told they can keep the pen afterwards. Hand sanitizer will also be provided and there will be other measures in place to protect against the spread of Coronavirus.
