At last night’s Center Township Supervisors meeting, supervisors discussed some of the road paving projects and the 2020 Census.
Right now, township road crews are working on Long Road, Neal Road, Bethel Church Road and Six Flats road. Suit-kote was able to pick up the winning bid for seal coating at a low bid of $72,262.50. Seal coating will be used on Long, Neal and Six Flats road. Supervisors also accepted a bid from Gary Construction of $220,539.75 to pave the entire length of Bethel Church Road from Route 286 to Laurel Road.
The census was also brought up for discussion as Supervisors Chairman Dave “Butch” Smyers said that the census was important for Center Township as much of the funding they receive for projects comes from the results of the census.
As of May 29th, 57.5 percent of Center Township have self-responded to the census. On August 11th, census takers will begin to visit households across the county. The Census ends on October 31st.
