Indiana Fire Association was dispatched to two calls over the last 24 hours.
One call was for a reported structure fire at Waller Hall on South 11th Street in Indiana Borough. Indiana, Clymer and Homer City firefighters were dispatched along with the HAZMAT team and Citizens Ambulance at 6:39 PM on Friday. Indiana Fire Officials said that a small fire was reported in the theater’s set construction area, as a combination of a hot water heat radiator, some sawdust and an old wood floor set off a fire. An employee was on-scene and was able to put the fire out on their own with a fire extinguisher before notifying campus police. Police then called on Indiana Fire Association to check for extensions in the walls, and none were found. Clymer and Homer City fire crews had been called in as a precaution.
Firefighters also had an early start to the day with a call this morning at 4:17. Indiana Fire Association members were dispatched to the Senior Life center on Wayne Avenue for an automatic fire alarm activation. That call turned out to be a false alarm.
