An event expected to bring thousands of people to our area kicks off today.
Today is the first day of the Keystone State Wrestling Championships. The tournament will be held throughout the weekend at the KCAC, with wrestlers from all over the state coming to compete for the “one true state champion” in different divisions and weight classes.
Wrestlers started arriving yesterday for official weigh-ins. Frank Vulcano with the Keystone State Championships says 2300 wrestlers are taking part, and that the KCAC is one of the best venues to hold the event.
Not only are the wrestlers and coaches are in town, but so are parents and fans, and that means hotels within 30 minutes of Indiana are booked solid. Heather Marcozzi with the tournament also recognized the financial impact this event will have on the area, and said that the Indiana County Tourist Bureau has been a big help in getting the word out to local businesses.
The tournament runs through Sunday.
