Diane Fako, age 76 of Indiana, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 peacefully at her home. She was born in 1943 in Indiana to Bernard Cunningham and Merva Sherrick Cunningham.
She went to Keith School, was a graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School, and earned her Associate’s Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Diane worked at the Indiana Gazette, ICM School of Business, Pitney Bowes, and Mailing Systems of PA before she retired in 2003.
Diane was an avid golfer. She loved to travel the world, going on cruises and to the beach with friends and family. She enjoyed playing bingo, mahjong, bridge, and billiards. In her free time, she liked to read on her Kindle, crochet, and sew. She was also a member of the Indiana Elks Auxiliary and served as an officer on the executive board.
Diane loved her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, known as “Gaga” by her grandchildren. She always looked forward to holiday celebrations and Sunday dinners. She especially enjoyed the companionship provided by her fur babies over the years: Spike, Rembrandt, Kit, and Buddy.
Beautiful on the inside and out, Diane had a great sense of humor and was fiercely loyal, direct, intelligent, quick-witted, genuine, and a great leader. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Diane is survived by her three children: James M. Tyger and his wife Nicole, Daniel A. Tyger and his wife Elizabeth, and Tracey L. Tyger Kunkle and her husband Timothy. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren: James Tyger and wife Catherine, Jacqueline Tyger and fiancé Taru Ford, Alicia and Adam Kunkle, Sarah, Lauren, and Alex Tyger; as well as her great-grandchildren: Abianne and Nia Tyger-Ford, and Bane and Lincoln Tyger. Diane’s sister, Carole Neese, as well as her husband, Daniel Fako, preceded her in death.
A private funeral service will be held by her family on Monday, June 1 and is under the direction of the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home in Indiana.
