NFL free agency officially began yesterday at 4 PM, and the Steelers declined to offer contracts to any of their four restricted free agents. That frees center J.C. Hassenauer, cornerback James Pierre, wide receiver Steven Sims, and running back Jeremy McNichols to sign with any team that wants them.
So far in free agency, the Steelers have lost linebacker Robert Spillane and cornerback Cam Sutton and they have added linebacker Cole Holcomb, cornerback Patrick Peterson, and guard Nate Herbig. They have re-signed defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi and safety Damontae Kazee.
Other unrestricted Steelers free agents still on the market include quarterback Mason Rudolph, tight end Zach Gentry, fullback Derek Watt, wide receiver Miles Boykin, running back Benny Snell, offensive linemen Jesse Davis and Trent Scott, defensive linemen Tyson Alualu and Chris Wormley, linebackers Devin Bush, Malik Reed, and Marcus Allen, and defensive backs Terrell Edmunds and Karl Joseph.
