The Homer-Center School Board held their reorganization meeting last night, and elected a new board president.
Michael Bertig was named the president of the board, beating long time board president Vicki Smith by a 5-3 vote, with Michael Bertig, Logan Dellafiora, Gerald Bertig, Bob Valyo, Justin Smyers casting votes in favor of Michael Bertig, and Daniel Fabin, Fred Hayes, and James McLoughlin voting for Smith. Smith herself was absent from the board meeting.
The vice presidency of the board went to Justin Smyers, who also won over Smith by the same margin and along the same voting lines.
The meeting schedule for next year did not pass, however, as it came down to a 4-4 tie vote. Afterwards, a new motion approved the dates for the January meetings, and a majority of board members said they want to discuss restructuring how the board conducts future meetings.
The next board meeting will be December 14th.
