Baseball America’s latest mock draft released yesterday has the Pirates selecting Georgia pitcher Emerson Hancock with the seventh overall pick. Hancock posted a 1.99 ERA as a sophomore in 2019. Pittsburgh also has the 31st overall selection as a competitive balance round A pick. The MLB five-round draft begins June 10th.
Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic report the Players Association wants a schedule longer than 82 games and insist players receive their full prorated salaries. The owners’ proposal Tuesday was a sliding scale of slashing pay for 2020 games with no fans. The highest paid players would take the biggest cuts.
