The Center Township Supervisors have enacted a new earned income tax for people that work in Center Township, but don’t live there.
Supervisors chairman John Bertolino said the new tax was recently approved at a payroll meeting, and the tax was inspired by other townships putting forward a similar tax. The idea for the tax came from their tax collector, Burkheimer and Sons.
The tax is a 1% tax on those who work in Center Township, but who don’t live there and live in a municipality that doesn’t have a similar municipal tax in place.
In other business, progress continues on the 2018 budget, which is a balanced budget and is now up for public display. Final approval on the budget is expected on December 20th.
