Gas prices have been going up as businesses start to reopen and the summer driving season gets underway.
AAA reports that as of this morning, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $2.22 a gallon. That is an eight-cent increase from last Monday and a 17-cent increase from last month at this time. It is still cheaper than where it was last year by a wide margin, as the average on this day last year in Pennsylvania was $2.99 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average is at $2.34 a gallon, which is the highest average in the region as of this morning. As far as surrounding counties go, Clearfield County has the lowest average at $2.28 a gallon. Jefferson County’s average is $2.31 a gallon, Armstrong County’s average is $2.32 a gallon. Both Westmoreland and Cambria Counties are reporting averages of $2.33 a gallon.
As far as gas prices go on the local level, gas prices range from $2.32 to $2.35 a gallon in Indiana Borough and White Township. Homer City and Blairsville’s gas stations are reporting $2.35 a gallon prices, and Clymer Borough reports gas prices at $2.32 a gallon.
