The Homer City man charged in the death of Kai Hrabovsky was sentenced to serve time in State Prison for his guilty plea.
Indiana County Judge Thomas Bianco sentenced 21-year-old Joseph Popovich to serve three to six years in a state prison, and after he is released, he will serve four years probation. He was also ordered to pay a $2500 fine on top of court costs. Popovich pleaded guilty on September 1st to charges of homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury and DUI-second offense. Charges of homicide by vehicle, a second DUI charge, along with summary traffic offenses were not prosecuted as part of the plea agreement.
Police said that on May 14th, Popovich struck and killed Hrabovsky while Hrabovsky was walking along Mt. Zion Road in Pine Township. Popovich pleaded guilty on September 1st in Indiana County Court.
