Students in the Penns Manor School District are in class today as the district and the union representing its teachers have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
No details on the contract have been released by either the district or the PMEA. The union said once the agreement was reached Thursday afternoon, they called the strike off. In a statement, PSEA Western Region Advocacy Coordinator Annie Briscoe said that they were overwhelmed with gratitude for the families and community members that supported them during the nine-day strike. She added, “As much sacrifice our teachers have made over these last couple of weeks, our teachers recognize that parents, grandparents and students have had to sacrifice even more.”
The agreement approved by the bargaining teams was presented to the PMEA membership yesterday. They will vote on the agreement Monday afternoon. That’s when more details on the agreement are expected to be released.
