River Valley Superintendent Philip Martell has been invited to give a speech at the US-Czech Business Forum later this month.
Martell will be joined by Marek Hahn of the Pittsburgh-based cybersecurity company Peig for a Q and A session that will focus on addressing cybersecurity in the education sector and other topics. One of the topics will be on how to prepare students to take on the challenges of cybersecurity in the global economy. Students with River Valley’s STEAM academy are pilot-testing the Peig program, which is a passwordless access platform that “closes the identity gap and removes the most prominent cyber threats by design. The pilot-testing will give the students real-world experience and the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the STEAM academy’s Cyber Security program in the real world.
The appearance by Martell and Hahn will highlight the Western PA Region’s role in the technology industry and the importance of educators bridging the gap between school and business to prepare students for the workforce.
