IUP’s Paige Mikesell yesterday earned All-American honors in the 200 individual medley at the Division II Swimming & Diving Championships in Indianapolis. Mikesell finished second overall the preliminary heats with an IUP record time of 2:00.82 and then finished sixth in the final. Teammate Rachel Johnson had a big day as well. She was awarded the NCAA Elite 90 Award, for combined excellence in her sport and in the classroom, and she finished 19th in the 200 IM prelims.
The 200 medley relay group of Jordan Crupie, Johnson, Mikesell and Amber Baldani added All-America honors with a school record 1:42.82 to round out the evening session.
Mikesell competes in the prelims of the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle this morning, while Johnson races in the 400 IM prelims.
The IUP women’s 400 medley relay team is in the pool tonight.
