Two more road construction projects get underway today in Indiana County, one in the borough of Indiana and one just outside of the borough in White Township.
Vehicle width restrictions begin today on Philadelphia Street in Indiana as workers begin replacing a small box culvert over White’s Run, near the 11th Street intersection. Traffic on Philadelphia Street will be maintained from 7 AM to 5 PM each day through October, while 11th Street will be detoured around the construction site using Water Street on the north side, Church Street on the south side, and 12th Street. The sidewalk on the north side will be closed but the sidewalk on the south side, near Bruno’s, will be open.
The work will include replacement of the culvert, drainage upgrades, paving, and the removal of the traffic signal at the intersection. It’s part of a $4.06 million group bridge replacement project.
Last year, the Route 119 Bypass from the Route 286 Clymer exit southward was rehabilitated and resurfaced. This summer, the Bypass to the north of the interchange will get the same treatment. Lane restrictions begin today in both directions from the 286 exit to the Route 110 Creekside exit.
The work will include milling, pavement patching, bridge repairs, and resurfacing. It’s a $3.26 million project that is expected to be completed in the fall.
