A Blairsville man charged with drug trafficking in Indiana County was sentenced to serve time in state prison Monday morning.
District Attorney Robert Manzi said in a news release that 32-year-old Brian Davenport will serve six to 13 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to two felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a second-degree felony charge of possession of a firearm, a second-degree misdemeanor charge of fleeing or eluding law enforcement, and a summary charge of driving on a suspended license.
The charges stem from an incident in March of last year when Davenport was found hiding in his apartment and tried to escape law enforcement by climbing a brick wall. They also stem back to an incident in October 2021, where Davenport was found to be in possession of 19.06 grams of fentanyl, 91.4 grams of cocaine, and other drug paraphernalia.
The Indiana County District Attorney’s office was assisted by members of the Pennsylvania State Police and Blairsville Borough Police Department. Manzi thanked both departments in the release and said “the only way to stop for profit drug dealers from selling poison in our community is to incarcerate them for lengthy periods [of time].”
