The Cherryhill Township Supervisors discussed a recent mining application made by a local energy company at their meeting on Monday.
Supervisors were notified by the PA Department of Environmental Protection that LCT Energy, LP., applied for a new deep mine permit called Rayne Run Mine that would be located along Rayne Run Road, near the intersection of T-559 and Brocious Road. The application includes a request for a new blasting plan and would allow access to the Lower Kittanning seam by a box cut pit with three slope entries.
Secretary Shirley Howells said it will be a while before the permit is processed.
In other business, Supervisors received an update on the yearly inspection of Popson Bridge. Chairman Jim Golden said the report came back clean.
Supervisors also announced that the annual County Spring Convention will be held May 11 at the Aultman Volunteer Fire Department.
