The PIAA brackets have been released, with five Indiana County teams entering the tournament, three of them as District 6 champions.
The action gets underway on Friday with the District 6 AA champion Homer-Center girls taking on WPIAL number eight team Chartiers Houston at the Homerdome.
District AA runnerup United’s girls will tangle with WPIAL number three Burgettstown in what will technically be a home game for United, but it will be played at Central Cambria because the PIAA deemed United’s gym to be too small.
Also on Friday, District 6 AA number four Marion Center will hit the road to play at WPIAL champion Shenango.
Girls AAA District 6 champion River Valley will host District 3 number four finisher York Catholic on Friday night.
Then on Saturday, District 6 boys AA champion United will host WPIAL number seven Serra Catholic at Central Cambria at 4 o’clock.
One other Heritage Conference team made the PIAA tournament, in Boys Class A, where District 6 champion Portage plays host on Friday to District 9 number four team Cameron County.
