There are still a handful of people in Indiana County who are without power this morning from the severe weather over the weekend.
Penelec reports 17 outages are still being worked on, with most of them in Green Township and in Homer City Borough. A few outages are also being reported in Blairsville and Clymer Boroughs this morning. Meanwhile, REA Energy is reporting no outages this morning across its service area.
Penelec reported that at the height of the windstorms on Friday and Saturday, about 3600 customers were without power. The ongoing high winds hampered power restoration efforts as crews were not able to go up in bucket trucks when winds were in excess of 40 miles an hour. Many of the outages were due to trees landing on wires or utility poles and that hampered restoration efforts as utility crews had to wait for forestry crews to come by and safely remove the tree.
Power is expected to be back on by 10:00 tonight at the latest for those still without power.
