The Oakland Avenue widening project in White Township gets going again today with lane restrictions between Rustic Lodge Road and Day Drive.
The single-lane closure will take place between 7 AM and 5 PM through Friday, with at least one lane open in each direction at all times. As part of the work, waterline relocations will be starting again around the Eat n’ Park and Aldi’s area.
The $19.38 million widening and resurfacing of Oakland Avenue was halted in March due to the governor’s order stopping all construction projects due to the pandemic. The busy road will be widened all the way to the Route 422 interchange. The project also includes the replacement of a bridge over McCarthy Run Creek and the installation of sidewalks along Oakland Avenue, along with drainage and guide rail upgrades, and the replacement of traffic signals.
PennDOT urges drivers to slow down and be alert for signs and flaggers.
