State police have identified the suspect who allegedly passed two counterfeit $100 bills at the Indiana Giant Eagle store on Wednesday, and it turns out he was picked up on Thursday in Cambria County.
23-year-old Bilal Basil Butler of Philadelphia is accused of making two small purchases at the Giant Eagle and paying for them with the fake hundred-dollar bills, pocketing the change, and fleeing the scene. Curiously, he could have legitimately worn a mask to conceal his identity because of the pandemic, but he chose not to.
Butler is charged with a single felony count of forgery and misdemeanor theft by deception. He is awaiting arraignment before District Judge Bob Bell. He was arrested and charged Thursday with the same two offenses in Cambria County and is currently in the county lockup there.
