State Police say two people were injured in a DUI crash on November 16th in West Wheatfield Towship. The crash happened at 11:12 PM on Shellbark Road, just north of Clyde Road. 41-year-old Gary Boldin of Armagh was driving North on Shellback Road when he fell asleep behind the wheel. The car swerved off the left side of the road and hit a garbage dumpster and a tree directly behind the dumpster. Boldin tried to flee the scene but was found about a mile north of the crash trying to walk home. Both he and his passenger, 41-year-old Michele Rankin of Nanty-Glo were taken to Conemaugh Hospital by Citizens Ambulance for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Boldin was cited for DUI.
Another DUI was reported by State Troopers in Indiana. This one was on November 4th at 2:11 AM, as Justin Layne Weant, 29 of Indiana, was driving along South Carpenter Avenue near Church Street when he was pulled over for a traffic stop. He was arrested at the time on suspicion of DUI.
State Police are investigating a burglary in Burrell Township. State Police say the theft happened between November 3rd and 6th at a home on Spring Avenue in Burrell Township. An unknown thief was able to get into the home and stole a .22 caliber revolver, some loose change, and a black Verizon tablet.
Few details are available on a traffic stop that turned into an arrest of a wanted person. Police say that a 30-year-old Homer City Woman, a 30-year-old Rural Valley man, and a 34-year-old man from Kittanning were in a car when it was pulled over. Police say one of the three in the car was taken into custody on a felony warrant, while the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. When the vehicle was searched, police found drug paraphernalia in the car. Charges will be filed pending the result of blood tests.
