According to a Facebook post made this morning by State Senator Joe Pittman, Governor Tom Wolf will announce that Indiana County is among the counties that will be moving into the yellow phase of his reopening plan next Friday, May 15.
The following is the post by Pittman:
I received a call from the Governor’s office last night and was otherwise prepared to abide by his embargo request until 2PM today. However, his subsequent stay at home order extension has again caused mass confusion. All counties I represent (Armstrong, Butler, Indiana and Westmoreland) are to be moved to ‘yellow’ effective May 15 and the stay at home order will be no longer be in effect for those areas. I really wish the Governor would stop sending mixed messages. It is only serving to scare and confuse people more than they already are.
The governor will address the state at 2 p.m. today (May 8), at which time he is expected to make an announcement about counties which will be moved into the yellow phase. The address will be carried live on WCCS AM 1160 and 101.1 FM and streaming on the WCCS Facebook page.
What does the yellow phase mean? The following is information from the governor’s Web site:
Yellow Phase
Work & Congregate Setting Restrictions
– Telework Must Continue Where Feasible
– Businesses with In-Person Operations Must Follow Business and Building Safety Orders
– Child Care Open Complying with Guidance
– Congregate Care and Prison Restrictions in Place
– Schools Remain Closed for In-Person Instruction
Social Restrictions
– Stay at Home Order Lifted for Aggressive Mitigation
– Large Gatherings of More Than 25 Prohibited
– In-Person Retail Allowable, Curbside and Delivery Preferable
– Indoor Recreation, Health and Wellness Facilities and Personal Care Services (such as gyms, spas, hair salons, nail salons and other entities that provide massage therapy), and all Entertainment (such as casinos, theaters) Remain Closed
– Restaurants and Bars Limited to Carry-Out and Delivery Only
– All businesses must follow CDC and DOH guidance for social distancing and cleaning
– Monitor public health indicators, adjust orders and restrictions as necessary
The green phase eases most restrictions by lifting the stay at home and business closure orders to allow the economy to strategically reopen while continuing to prioritize public health. While this phase will facilitate a return to a “new normal,” it will be equally important to continue to monitor public health indicators and adjust orders and restrictions as necessary to ensure the spread of disease remains at a minimum.
