IUP NOMINATES CRIMSON & GRAY AWARDS CANDIDATES

IUP Athletics has announced 101 nominees for the fourth annual Crimson & Gray Awards.

The awards honor the top men’s and women’s performers of the 2019-20 regular and post seasons across 18 total categories — nine men and nine women.  The nominees consist of student-athletes, coaches and teams from 16 of IUP’s 19 varsity sports.

Unfortunately, the pandemic and the March cancellation of the rest of the sports year means the spring-only sports of baseball, women’s lacrosse and softball do not have any nominations.

This year’s winners will be announced Friday, May 15^th.

Awards are given to a member of both an IUP men’s and women’s team, and include: Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, Performance of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Breakthrough Athlete of the Year, Postseason Performer of the Year, Senior of the Year, Team of the Year and Athlete of the Year.

Two new awards for 2019-20 are the Academic Team of the Year and the Crimson Teammates of the Year.

Teammates of the year are given to a student-athlete in every sport who inspires his or her teammates with the five pillars of the IUP Athletics vision: Experience, Leadership, Community, Excellence and Integrity.
