The state Game Commission continues to investigate how an osprey was fatally injured in Blacklick Township last week.
The bird was found in a field Tuesday with a severely injured leg and later had to be euthanized by a veterinarian. Game Commission officials say ospreys generally are found near bodies of water, where they can fish, but it’s migration season and this one may have been headed north when it was injured.
Investigators are particularly interested in knowing whether or not it was shot, and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 724-238-9523.
