The Phillies jumped on Pirates pitchers yesterday scoring the game’s first eight runs on their way to a 9-7 win in the season’s second exhibition game.
The game started with JT Brubaker giving up a walk followed by a two-run homer by Alec Bohm. The Bucs fought back, starting with Ke’Bryan Hayes hitting a two-run homer run after Jack Suwinski had doubled in the fifth inning. Endy Rodriguez and Drew Maggi each had two hits late in the game for the Pirates.
One item of note from the game: Jack Suwinski started in center field, with Brian Reynolds moving to left. Manager Derek Shelton said he is leaning toward making that a more permanent move, and Reynolds said he is fine with it.
The Pirates will play the Orioles in Bradenton today.
