While Governor Tom Wolf announced that some regions in Pennsylvania will transition from red to yellow status and could see some reopening next week, some recreational activities are reopening today.
Today is the day that golf courses, marinas, guided fishing trips and privately-owned campgrounds can re-open to recreational activity. These businesses are required to follow updated life-sustaining business guidance that was issued by the Wolf Administration. Wolf said at the time that the announcement was made that the outdoor activities will not only help rebuild the economy, but will also be a benefit to the physical and mental health of Pennsylvanians.
State park campgrounds are still closed, and will remain closed until May 15th.
The CDC has issued guidelines for visiting parks and recreational facilities. This includes continuing the practice of social distancing by staying at least six feet away from others, wearing a mask, and staying away from an area if it looks too crowded; staying close to home by frequenting the local recreational areas rather than travelling any great distances; practicing good hygiene with frequent hand washing and using hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available; and going out only if you feel healthy and have not been exposed to anyone who tested positive for Covid-19.
