The Penguins have signed forward Radim Zohorna to a one-year, two-way contract. He is listed at 6-foot-6, 233 pounds and turned 24 yesterday. Zohorna has played the last six seasons in the Czech Republic’s top professional league, and this season had career highs of 46 games, and 22 points. He scored ten goals and had twelve assists. GM Jim Rutherford says Zohorna can play all three forward positions.
The Penguins could be back skating soon. According to TSN senior hockey reporter Frank Seravalli the NHL sent a memo to teams yesterday saying teams could begin reopening team and training facilities in mid-to-late May with scenarios to resume play in late June or early July. Players outside of their club city should consider whether to plan to return. It’s termed “Phase 2” developed by the league’s “Return to Play” committee.
