Two fires were reported in different areas of Indiana County within 10 minutes of each other.
Cherryhill Township firefighters along with Clymer and Pine Township firefighters were called out at 4:55 PM on Sunday, with Brush Valley, Marion Center, and Spangler Fire departments each called in to standby.
Cherryhill Township Fire Chief Jody Rainey said the fire was accidental in nature, as it started in the flue of a wood-burner and spread into the wall and ceiling of the living room of the house. The fire was contained to the living room, but fire crews had a difficult time finding the fire and had to tear out several walls to find the fire. A woman who lived in the house is displaced, but the home was saved and can be repaired. Her identity has not been released as of yet.
The other fire reported was in a garage separate from a property on Pumphouse Road in East Wheatfield Township. There are few details on the cause and manner of the fire, but Armagh Fire Assistant Chief Tim Benamati said the garage was fully engulfed by the time fire crews got there. He confirmed the garage was destroyed by the fire. Clyde, New Florence and Seward fire departments were also on the scene to fight the fire. State Police have not been called in to investigate. The name of the property owner was not released.
