Indiana Fire Association members had a busy 24 hours as they were called out for five out of seven incidents across the county yesterday and this morning.
Indiana fire crews first responded to a gas leak at the Hadley Union Building on the IUP campus around 1:54 yesterday morning. Following that, crews responded to three consecutive automatic fire alarm activations.
The first happened at 8:24 a.m. and it sent companies one and four to the Meals on Wheels Building for what was deemed a “culinary mishap.” The second alarm sent companies two and three to Indiana Area Junor High School around 9:47 a.m., but that was deemed a false alarm by school staff. The third alarm sent crews one and four to Clairvaux Commons around 2:15 p.m. Crews arrived on scene and found that a staff member had set off the alarm. Nothing was found and all units cancelled shortly after.
Finally, Indiana fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of North 2nd Street in Indiana Borough around 1:32 this morning for a carbon monoxide alarm. Officials say in a Facebook post that a resident reported carbon monoxide poisoning and they were interviewed when crews arrived. The home was inspected and no carbon monoxide was found.
Other incidents reported to Indiana County 911 yesterday include a structure fire in neighboring Armstrong County that sent Iselin/West Lebanon crews to Brownstown Road in Kiskiminetas Township around 3:43 a.m., and a report of utility lines down at 4:43 this morning along Tipperary Road in Green Township. Commodore Fire Department responded to that call.
