Governor Tom Wolf announced yesterday that certain outdoor recreational areas will reopen on Friday, May 1st.
The areas that will be allowed to reopen include golf courses, marinas, guided fishing trips and private campgrounds. Campgrounds at state parks will remain closed through May 14th. The organizations that run the recreational activities will need to follow updated life-sustaining business guidelines that were issued by the Wolf Administration and by the CDC. They are also asking people to:
- Stay close to home and visiting the recreational facilities in their community.
- Practice social distancing by staying six feet away from others, wearing a mask or protective garment that covers the nose and mouth. If the place looks too crowded, look for an alternate place to go.
- Minimize risks to others by only going out if you feel healthy and have not had contact with anyone who tested positive for Covid-19
- Practice good hygiene by washing hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available. Also avoid often-touched surfaces like doorknobs and handrails.
- Create a safety plan before heading out.
The guidelines must be followed by businesses and when engaging in an outdoor activity while the state disaster declaration remains in effect.
