Four fire companies were on the scene of a flue fire in Cherryhill Township on Sunday.
Indiana County 911 reported that Clymer, Cherryhill Township, Indiana and Commodore fire departments along with the RIT team and Citizen’s ambulance were called out to Cherryhill Road, with the fire located at the top of Sample Hill. Clymer Fire Chief John Gromley said the fire was in a two-story home and started in the flue of a fireplace, and spread to other areas through a hole in the flue.
Two people were able to get out and they were able to head back in after the fire was put out. Gromley estimated about $30,000 in water and smoke damage, but the structure remains sound.
