Several state representatives are waking up with anticipation this morning as the House is finally called into session after more than seven weeks of waiting. Among those eager to get back to discussion is State Representative Jim Struzzi.
New Speaker of the House Mark Rozzi shut down the session before it began as he awaited the results of three special elections that gave Democrats majority of the house.
Struzzi will be participating in two key hearings this week, one being today. That is the discussion on regulatory reform in the House Republican Policy Committee. Tomorrow, a roundtable discussion will be held examining subjects like program fraud, waste, and abuse of federal and state taxpayer dollars.
While this will keep him and other representatives busy over the next few days, Struzzi is looking forward to reintroducing the subject of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, also known as RGGI.
Struzzi adds he plans on focusing on education in schools during this session.
Operating rules will be among the first actions established, which should have been done on January 3rd. The House will meet today, tomorrow and Thursday.
